Summit Park Neighborhood Boundaries Indian School Rd. (north) Carlisle Blvd. (east) Lomas Blvd. (south) Girard Blvd. (west) Our neighborhood includes one elementary school (Montezuma), one middle school (Jefferson), and two beautiful parks (Summit Park and Bataan Memorial Park). In addition, there are 50-75 businesses along our boundaries. Summit Park Neighborhood is just a few short blocks from the UNM North Golf Course, UNM Law School, and UNM Hospital and Medical School. Many of our residents enjoy walking, jogging, and bicycling. Public transportation - ABQRide - has routes along Lomas, Girard, Carlisle, Constitution, and Indian School Rd. Our neighborhood rarely experiences serious crimes; most of the criminal activity involves misdemeanors in one of the businesses within our boundaries (shoplifting, bad check, etc.), and we do have an occasional home burglary. We've also had some reports of gun shots in and near our neighborhood over the last year. Auto burglaries and auto thefts appear to be on the rise. Unlocked vehicles are an easy target. Cars with visible items on the seat are more likely to be targeted. Cars parked in the driveway or on the street should be locked at all times; a steering wheel club and/or an alarm are also good deterrents for a would-be thief. We recently learned that APD does not require you to keep your registration and insurance card in your vehicle. You can take a picture of each document, and leave the hard copies at home. Just be sure you have your phone with you in the car. We know that thieves often will break into your vehicle solely for the purpose of obtaining information about you.
