Summit Park Neighborhood Association - DUES Dues for the current year ($10 per adult) are accepted at any time. Please mail a check to SPNA, P.O. Box 30893, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87190-0893. If you are already one of the 400+ on our e-mail list, you do not have to repeat your info (address, telephone, e-mail) - we already have it on record. If you are a new member, please write your information clearly - name, address, telephone, e-mail address. Thank you. All dues received at this time will be applied to the October 2017 - October 2018 membership year. Thank you to all who have sent in your dues. Your support is appreciated and enables us to fund our various neighborhood activities.
BLOCK PARTIES Every year, several of our neighbors organize a summer or early fall block party. SPNA will provide reimbursement for your expenditures (excluding alcohol), in the amount of $150-200, depending on the association's finances and the number of requests for reimbursement. Right now, since our membership is strong, our treasury is able to reimburse up to $200. Procedures for Block Party Reimbursement All block party organizers must be current members of the neighborhood association. Organizers must notify the SPNA Board at least one week prior to scheduled block party, giving the date, time, and location. Every effort will be made to have one or two board members stop by to introduce themselves and familiarize neighbors with the neighborhood association. The board will provide paper plates, napkins, cold drink cups, and plastic silverware (forks and spoons). There will be no reimbursement if you purchase these items. Receipts must be submitted to the board within 30 days. Each item on receipt should be clarified, if necessary. Reimbursement will be approximately $150 - $200, depending on the association’s finances and number of requests received. (The current reimbursement is $200.)
OTHER NEIGHBORHOOD EVENTS If you would like to host a neighborhood event other than a block party, you may still be eligible for some financial reimbursement. SPNA supports information-sharing events, multi-generational events, etc. Use the contact sheet to contact the board if you would like more information or would like to pursue an idea.
SUMMER MOVIES During the summer months, Bill Warren, owner of I Scream Ice Cream (on Carlisle, between Constitution and Indian School), shows free movies every Friday night. Free popcorn is also provided. Call the store to find out what's playing on the big screen . . .

HALLOWEEN PUMPKIN GLO in 2018. . . We did not have a volunteer to chair the 2017 Pumpkin Glo, but two of our neighbors did come forward and offered to chair the event in 2018. If you feel the Pumpkin Glo is a valuable neighborhood event, and would like to assist in 2018, please use the contact sheet on this web site. It is a one-time commitment. This is what must be done to make the event successful: 1. We have two banners. One says Summit Park Neighborhood Association. The other advertises the Pumpkin Glo and says 6-8 pm. These should be placed at Summit Park on the morning of October 31. (These will be given to the chairperson.) 2. Contact APD to request an off-duty police officer for the 2 hours of the event (paid for by SPNA). 3. Purchase 4 half-gallons of apple juice, small cups, napkins, candy, and 4-oz. cups (if SPNA does not have a supply on hand). Keep your receipt. (This will be done by the chairperson or designeee.) 4. Order Glo Bracelets in September to be sure we have a variety of colors. (The chairperson or designee does this.) 5. Need one card table, table cover, tea candles, matches, 1-2 garbage bags. The association has many tea candles. Set up shortly before 6 pm at the north side of the park, near the basketball hoop. The lighting there is best. (One year, we tried setting up on the south side, at one of the concrete tables, and found we were in darkness.) 6. Pick up pumpkins at 8 pm. Recycle the next day, if possible. Recruit someone with a pick up truck to arrive at the park a little before 8:00; everyone helps put the pumpkins in the truck. Anyone who wants to take home a pumpkin (or more than one) is welcome to do so at 8:00 p.m.
2018 NEIGHBORHOOD YARD SALE The third annual Summit Park Neighborhood Yard Sale will take place on the first Saturday in May, 2018. Kelly and Steve Brewer have graciously agreed to chair the event.
ALBUQUERQUE POLICE DEPARTMENT CRIME PREVENTION UNIT
Vehicle Identification Number Window Etching Event.. Window etching of your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is an excellent deterrent to auto theft. In a matter of minutes the VIN can be permanently fixed in a corner of each window. Placing the VIN on each window can discourage thieves from dismantling your automobile and reselling the parts, which is one of the primary reasons our vehicles are stolen. It also assists law enforcement efforts to retrieve a stolen vehicle When the next VIN Etching Event is announced, sponsored by the Albuquerque Police Department, we will post the information on this web site - date, time and location. The window etching is free and residents must bring current vehicle registration. For more information on auto theft prevention, visit: www.cabq.gov/police/crime-prevention-safety/auto-theft
